A great year with a balanced summer and an extraordinary September enabling the perfect maturation of the Sangiovese grapes.
The harvest took place in the traditional time of early October. The climatic conditions of September, a very important month for Sangiovese, allowed us to pick absolutely healthy grapes of the highest quality.
The fermentation process required an accurate temperature control in order to extract the right amount of colour.
The characteristic feature of the Rosso di Montalcino from CROCEDIMEZZO is its 10 month ageing period in 32 hl oak vats. This valuable wood gives the Rosso di Montalcino a perfect balance of innate freshness and roundness of taste, while highlighting its tannins.
All these factors combined mean that once again we are presenting a great Rosso di Montalcino, a wine which will amply satisfy the taste of our most exacting clientele, a wine that when “forgotten about” for a lengthy period in the winery will be found to be full of delightful surprises.
